CAN I CHOOSE A COLOR FOR MY COVER?

Yes!  Aquamatic offers 11 standard colors to choose from, and 7 Designer series colors that are made in the USA. Aquamatic also offers a composite lid in 6 different colors for the recess lid.

Automatic Pool Covers offers 8 attractive colors for their covers.

IS AN AUTOMATIC POOL COVER SYSTEM AN ENERGY SAVING DEVICE?

Absolutely!  Using an automatic cover system on your pool will act as a solar collector to help maintain heat while saving you in the operating costs with eliminating evaporation, which accounts for 75% of heat loss.

WHAT IS THE POOL COVER MATERIAL MADE OF?

The auto covers are made up of a heavy gauge 16 – 18 oz. psf. gauge vinyl with a high strength reinforced Dacron mesh.

WILL THE AUTOMATIC POOL COVER HELP TO HEAT THE POOL?

Yes!  The cover will actually absorb heat during the day and channel this heat into your pool water.  This will extend your swim season on both ends.  Also, if you are heating the pool, this cover will keep that heat inside the pool and not allow it to escape.  Owning a pool without a cover is like owning a house without a roof in this sense.

IS AN AUTOMATIC POOL COVER SYSTEM A SAFETY COVER?

Yes!  The automatic covers that we provide are designed primarily around safety.  All of the covers that we offer exceed the ASTM F1346-91 requirements for safety.  The other benefits that these covers offer like warm and clean water with less usage of chemicals are a nice side feature to the primary function of an automatic safety pool cover system.

DO I STILL USE CHEMICALS THE SAME WAY?

Yes, but you will find that if you use your automatic pool cover frequently, you will use far less chemicals than you have in the past.  By cutting down the U.V light from the sun, you are saving yourself a lot of money in chemical cost.  The typical return on investment for an auto cover on a residential pool is about seven to nine years.

ARE THERE ANY CONCERNS WITH AN AUTO COVER ON A SALT WATER POOL?

Yes.  Salt water pools have proven to be corrosive to all pool cover systems.  We all know what salt does to our cars…  When you open your pool cover, you are bringing back salt water onto your drum that rolls the cover up.  This drum never gets the sun on it, and it typically stays pretty wet inside of your humid cover recess.  The drum on a salt water pool is soaking in residual salt for its entire existence.  Manufacturers of automatic cover systems have taken steps to better this problem, but the problem can still require some replacement parts down the road.  One thing that we do at Aquamatic East Coast to help with salt water corrosion is install sacrificial zinc anodes on all of our pool cover systems that we install.  The zinc anode absorbs the majority of the corrosion because it is a softer metal than the cover system is made of.  Just as water will find the path of least resistance, corrosion will find the softest metal to destroy.  It is also highly recommended that if you own a salt water pool, you should get in the habit of rinsing down your cover system with a garden hose at least once a month to get the salt residue off with fresh water.

WHAT IS THE WARANTY FOR A POOL COVER SYSTEM?

Aquamatic Cover Systems come with the best warranty in the industry.  Aquamatic offers a 20 year limited warranty on the mechanism and motors that drive the cover.  They also offer a limited 7 year warranty on the cover.  The warranty is limited to manufacturers defects.

Automatic Pool Covers offers a limited 10 year warranty on the mechanism, a 3 year limited warranty on the motor, and a 5 year limited warranty on the cover.  Limited to manufacturers defects as well.

SHOULD I REMOVE STANDING WATER FROM THE TOP OF MY POOL COVER?

Yes!  We are going to provide you with a cover pump for just this reason.  Standing water on the top of your pool cover is just as dangerous as not having a cover at all.

CAN I STILL USE MY POOL CLEANER UNDERNEATH OF THE COVER?

Yes!  Your robot pool cleaner will not hurt the auto cover at all.  You may find that it is not as needed when you use your auto cover all of the time, because the auto cover is keeping the dirt out.

WILL THE COVER CUT DOWN MY FILTRATION USE?

Yes!  You will save on average 30 to 60% on your electrical costs by owning an automatic pool cover system.

CAN THE COVER BE OPERATED WHEN I AM NOT AROUND?

Yes and no…  The Aquamatic Cover System is controlled by a key.  If you would like for your neighbor to enjoy your pool while you are away, leave them the key, but if you wish to have the cover closed while you are away, hide the key before you go.  The Automatic Pool Cover System is controlled by a touchpad that requires you to manually push a 4 digit code to operate the cover.  It is very easy to change the code if you are at all concerned about people using the pool while you are away.

SHOULD THERE BE WRINKLES IN THE COVER?

Yes and no…  The cover is supposed to be supported by the water underneath of it.  Because of this, the cover will need to be cut at least 4” wider than your pool.  This can create some wrinkles, and that is standard across the board in the cover industry.  What you need to look out for is wrinkles that turn into folds over the top of the water surface.  Folds are the place in your cover where water will begin to leak through.  Aquamatic covers fit beautifully, and we have the APC covers that we order tailor made to eliminate excessive wrinkles.  We want your cover to look good and last for a long time.
